More than 100 Technion candidates are interviewed on June 19

Technion continues recruiting new students this year in Guangdong. More than 100 candidates from Shantou, Guangzhou, Shenzhen, Dongguan, Zhongshan and other places participate in Technion's admission interview, which is held at Shantou University on June 19.


Technion accepted students' application from January this year. The programs to be chosen include chemical engineering, biotechnology and food engineering, civil engineering, mechanical engineering. Students will spend their college time in Haifa, take course in English and get their Bachelor's degree after graduation. Technion started to recruit students in Guangdong in 2014 and now there are 32 students from Chaoshan area studying there.


The interview began at 8:30. Introduction to Technion and GTIIT were held first, followed by the mental fitness evaluation, which is to learn about the candidates' personality, thinking mode, psychological maturity and see whether they are ready to study abroad. From 9:30 to 12:30, candidates were divided into groups to have discussions and their abilities in communication, analysis, coordination, cooperation and English expression were evaluated. Compared with Chinese colleges and universities, Technion particularly encourages innovation, and pioneering thinking.


After the interview, complete application materials should be submitted before the end of June. The Admissions Committee of Technion International Department will review all the materials in early July and decide on the admission. Admission Letters will be issued before mid-July. Once admitted, students can apply for a visa go to Israel in mid-August.

To help freshmen better get used to the study in Technion, arrangements are made specially for their new comers — Orientation Days from August 15 to September 19 and Preparation Period from August 21 to September 30 during which courses on math and physics, language are given.


Technion recognizes scores of the Chinese National College Entrance Exam, and its application does not affect the domestic ones. Cost for the study in Technion include: $50 for registration, $500 for admission, $15000/ year for tuition, $4000/ year for accommodation, about $1000/ year for health insurance and $5000/ year for living expenses.


Founded in 1912, Technion is a world-leading university of science and technology. It has 14000 students, 18 departments, 60 research centers and an outstanding faculty of 620 people, including 3 Nobel literates. Guangdong Technion- Israel Institute of Technology (GTIIT), jointly established by Technion and Shantou University was approved to be established by the Ministry of Education on April 9, 2015, and great efforts are made to get the MOE's approval for the formal establishment and enrollment in 2017.
