In order to defend Typhoon Meranti, on?September 14,?current GTIIT (Prep.) construction site was required to shut down by Shantou Agent Construction Center (SACC) to ensure the safety of personnel and facilities in advance.

On the morning of September 14, after receiving the notice from SACC, flood control and waterlogging prevention facilities, electromechanical devices were checked. Major hazards, such as deep excavations, high slopes, scaffolds, construction hoisting machinery, and temporary electricity, etc. were checked for hidden danger. Inspection and monitoring were emphasized on foundation excavation, basement supporting structure, and underground pipeline construction to ensure support for the foundation pit wall. The change of foundation pit slope and adjacent buildings were closely monitored for potential damage. Meanwhile, security check of temporary work sheds, dorms, walls, etc. were enhanced and prevention measures were taken accordingly. Transfer of personnel was properly arranged to prevent accidents.
