On the morning of December 9, Zhu Xiaodan, the Governor of Guangdong Province, as well as principal officers of related departments, visited Shantou to investigate the construction progress of Guangdong Technion-Israel Institute of Technology (GTIIT).

Zhu Xiaodan had an on-site inspection on the construction progress of GTIIT North Campus. The Campus is adjacent to Shantou University, with a total area of 102.85mu and a building area of 102,000 ©O. The construction contents include Research Building, Education Building, Student Dorm (ABCD), Staff Dorm, and supporting facilities, with the focus on intelligent design and green design.

Afterwards, Zhu Xiaodan was briefed on the related work and had an in-depth exchange of views with President Peretz Lavie (the Technion) and Chancellor Li Jiange (GTIIT) in a forum. Zhu Xiaodan pointed out that GTIIT is a milestone of China-Israel cooperation and stands for the future of such cooperation. The next stage is to enhance the close cooperation between Guangdong Province and the Technion so as to accelerate the construction of GTIIT and establish a world-class institute. First of all, complete the construction of the new campus on time with high standards and quality. Accelerate the construction and ensure its delivery to use by March next year. Set up campus network by adopting the technology of high-speed wireless local area network. Second, provide the students and faculty with excellent and comprehensive supporting facilities and services, especially in medical care and foreign faculty's children education. Third, introduce excellent and top faculty from all around the world. Fourth, strengthen links with the MOE and get prepared for student recruitment. Fifth, introduce excellent administrative staff and establish an efficient administrative structure to guarantee good operation. Sixth, start to plan the construction of China-Israel Technology Innovation Cooperation Zone as soon as possible and attract investment, talents, and technology resources with GTIIT's support. Efforts should be devoted to establishing a world-class technology innovation center. Seventh, publicize the latest achievements of China-Israel cooperation through globally influential platforms.
