On January 7, Deputy Secretary of Provincial Party Committee & Acting Provincial Governor, Ma Xingrui, together with related officials, came to Shantou for an inspection on the progress of infrastructure construction. The first site of inspection was the North Campus of GTIIT, where they were debriefed on the related work. The officials present include Provincial Secretary General & Director of General Office, Li Feng, Director of Provincial Development & Reform Commission, He Ningka, Director of Provincial Transportation Department, Li Jing, Deputy-Director of Provincial Development & Reform Commission, Wu Daowen, Deputy-Director of Provincial Transportation Department, Yang Xiping, and Head of Comprehensive Transportation Office - Provincial Development & Reform Commission, Huang Shuming.
With the company of Municipal Party Secretary Chen Liangxian and Acting Mayor, Liu Xiaotao, Ma Xingrui and his team had a site inspection on the construction site of GTIIT's North Campus. After being debriefed on the recent work, Ma Xingrui emphasized the long-term effect of education and talents development and also attached importance to the details of the campus construction as well as the planning and coordination. He asked all the parties involved to intensify scientific management and construction, promote related work from a large and strategic perspective, and ensure the construction will be completed with high quality as scheduled.
Other leaderships present include municipal leaderships–Sun Guanghui, Li Gengjian, Lin Xiaoyong; leaderships from STU– Gu Peihua, Lin Danming; leaderships from GTIIT – Moshe Marom & Feng Xinglei.
On December 5th, 2016, the Ministry of Education approved the formal establishment of GTIIT, which is another landmark for the introduction of foreign top universities into Guangdong Province and improvement of the MOE's international Universities Education level. Currently, the completed investment on the North Campus is about RMB 604 million yuan out of the total (735 million yuan) and the campus will be delivered for use in the first half year of 2017.?
