This year marks the 25^th anniversary of the establishment of China-Israel diplomatic relations. The third meeting of China-Israel Innovation Cooperation Joint Committee was held in Beijing Diaoyutai State Guesthouse on March 21. Chinese Vice Premier Liu Ynadong and Israeli Prime Minister Netanyahu co-chaired the meeting and said repeatedly that GTIIT is a significant achievement of China-Israel educational cooperation, to which they will pay high attention.

Chancellor Li Jiange of GTIIT, Board member and STU Provost Gu Peihua, Pro Vice Chancellor Eliezer Shalev attended the meeting. Attaching great importance to this meeting, Deputy Mayor Lin Yiming and Chancellor Lavie of the Technion were also present.

In the hall outside the meeting site there was an exhibition of China-Israel innovative cooperation achievements in a wide range of areas such as science and technology, education, culture, and sanitation.?

The formal establishment of GTIIT was approved by the Ministry of Education on December 5^th, 2016. GTIIT fully introduces excellent education resources from the Technion, develops talents with innovation, global horizon and humanistic quality, and commits to become an internationally high-level research-based institute in education, science research, and innovation. Presently, the construction of GTIIT North Campus is being accelerated for the first freshmen to be enrolled in August, 2017.

The meeting of China-Israel Innovation Cooperation Joint Committee is a bridge of innovation collaboration in science and technology, education, culture, sanitation, and regions, which successfully boosts the China-Israel win- win cooperation based on equality and mutual benefits and contributes to the sustained and sound development of these two countries' relations. Government leaderships of the two countries spoke highly of GTIIT at the second meeting of China-Israel Innovation Cooperation Joint Committee in Jerusalem in March, 2016. Vice Premier Liu Yandong pointed out that GTIIT is a significant cooperation project between China and Israel, which should be raised to national level. GTIIT has been greatly supported by the national, the provincial, and the municipal government since the preparation stage in December,2015.?
