The Campus design of GTIIT has attracted eyeballs worldwide since it released its construction plan. Both the provincial and municipal governments have spare no efforts to support the construction of GTIIT. As the back-to-school season is coming, our reporters went to the GTIIT North Campus, to beforehand learn more about the construction progress of the teaching areas and living areas.

In line with the blueprint, the North Campus, with an overall floorage is 101,700 m2, is in the front of the lush green Sangpu Mountain. Research Building, Administration Building, Teaching Laboratories, Visitors & Innovation Center, Canteen, Student Dorms, Staff Dorms are located from east to west on the stripe-shade GTIIT North Campus.?
From the spot, we can see that all the dormitories, 4 for students and 1 for faculty, has been finished constructing the major structure and the decoration of the buildings. The 4 student dormitories, totally 274 rooms in accommodation for 1060 students. Beds, desks and cooking utensil will be ready before May 15th, since the decoration has drawn to an end, said Zheng Weicheng, the director of the site operation. An undergraduate is supposed to share a suite with three students, while two of them will share a bedroom in the suite.

We went into a suite on the second floor. Facing the south, the suite is around 45 m2, with two bedrooms and a living room. Each bedroom and living room is about 15 m2. Every suite has its balcony and is equipped with an air conditioner and a washing machine. The living room consists of a bathroom, a wash basin and a well-equipped kitchen.?

The living areas also stands out for its scientific layout. Zheng Weicheng said, students' dormitories leave some space for public lavatory, expressage, hairdressing, laundry, banks, etc. In addition, every floor has public areas for social activities, say, parties and peer learning. The North Campus has a basketball court, a badminton court and a gym.?
The major construction of teaching buildings has finished and scaffolds has been removed. The inner decoration is still underway, yet with tremendous constructing speed. "Teaching building and administration building will be put into service before the coming semester, while the labs might only be available next year." said one official from GTIIT. According to syllables, freshmen is going to undertake basic courses in the first year, and only when they pass the preparation exams for experiments can they use the labs next year. Therefore, the construction progress of the labs has little impact on teaching.
