On May 3rd, Caixin News reported that Li Jiange, the Chancellor of the Guangdong Technion Israel Institute of Technology (GTIIT), decided to denote his annual salary in the next two years to support the scholarship program of GTIIT.

GTIIT plans to set up 9,000,000 RMB college scholarship. Li Jiange, the chancellor, decided to denote his annual salary for two years, 4,000,000 RMB in total, and the rest of the scholarship will be funded by Li Ka-Shing foundation and other listed corporations in Chaoshan region. GTIIT will enroll 240 students in mainland China, 60% of them will receive the scholarship or subsidiaries.

As the first Sino-foreign polytechnic university in China, GTIIT is committed to implant the Israeli entrepreneurship and international education in Shantou, the east city in Guangdong. For undergraduates, GTIIT’s tuition fee is 95,000 RMB and 1,200 RMB for accommodation.

In accordance with the approval of the Ministry of Education, GTIIT will gradually enlarge its enrollment every year, up to 2960 students (including 2660 undergraduates), from 2017 to 2026. To cushion the setback of high tuition fees, GTIIT has proposed abundant scholarship. There are three rankings of scholarship: the highest is 100,000 RMB per year, following 75,000 RMB per year and 50,000 RMB per year. 10% of the college applicants will be awarded the highest-ranking scholarship, while 15% and 25% of students will receive the second- and third-ranking scholarship respectively.

Therefore, half the students from mainland China, totally 120 students, will win 8,100,000 RMB scholarship. GTIIT also has subsidiary programs, each student can get 50,000 RMB per year. Scholarship and subsidiaries total 9,000,000 RMB, and the scholarship for overseas students has not been released yet.??
