When it comes to germs, people will think of diseases. But the latest research shows that germs can be medicine for treating tumor as well. In the afternoon of April 25th?, Sima Yaron,?professor of?Guangdong Technion Israel Institute of Technology,?gave a speech to students of?Shantou Yuhuai High School?on?Recruiting?food-borne pathogens?like Salmonella to fight cancer?and introduced her latest research on food-borne pathogens.

In the afternoon of April 26th, Professor Sima Yaron gave a lecture in Nanhai Shimen High School. One of the students surprised Sima Yaron by painting a cartoon of her.

In the afternoon of April 27th, Professor Sima Yaron had a lecture on?Recruiting food-borne pathogens like Salmonella to fight cancer?in Shantou No.1 High School. She was amazed by the fluent English of students and their professional questions.

Sima Yaron is a professor at Technion-Israel Instituteof Technology, and head of the laboratory of Molecular Microbiology of Food-Borne Pathogens. She is an expert in the fields of biotechnology and food engineering.

She received her BSc in 1994 and PhD in 1999, both from the Technion. She then spent 2.5 years as a postdoctoral fellow at the Food Science Department at Rutgers University in NJ, USA. Currently, she is a faculty member at the Technion, Vice Dean for undergraduate studies of the Technion, member of the Board of GRAND Water Institute, member of the Israeli National Security Council of "Bioterrorism in the Age of Terrorism", and departmental coordinator of undergraduate studies. Prof. Yaron's major research is in the areas of microbial food safety, particularly concentrating on mechanisms of resistance and virulence of food-borne pathogens.
