From May 9th to 11th, professor Noam Soker, an astrophysicist and the dean of the college of science of GTIIT visited Zhixin Middle School, Guangdong Huaqiao Middle School and Zhongshan Guishan Middle School, and gave lectures on?The Source of Elements in the Universe?to students. He said, the essential elements within human bodies can be traced back to the stars exploding thousands of years ago, and we should say "thank you" to those stars.

"Elements are the?fundamental?components of materials. Our colorful world?is formed by chemical?elements,?but where do these elements come from? The answer lays in the infinite universe." Professor Noam Soker was illustrating how elements come into being along the evolvement of the universe. He also described how elements like iron and gold were born from?the explosion of stars and how?hydrogen and helium?were produced?during the Big Bang. The universe will remain an endless exploration?theme for?human beings, said Professor Noam Soker, human beings?desire to solve the mystery of universe for thousands of years by investigating in the evolvement and laws of the universe. Mankind tries to apply what they know from the universe to their daily lives and the sustainable development of human society. "We explore the universe out of curiosity.?It is?actually?an exploration to?the origin of human beings. This kind?of?exploration?will last forever."
Professor?Noam Soker is an astrophysicist in the Department of Physics at Technion - Israel Institute of Technology. He received his BA in 1982 and his PhD in 1986, both from the Technion,?then spent three years as a postdoctoral fellow at the University of Virginia, and three more years at the Harvard-Smithsonian Center for Astrophysics. From 1992 to 2003 he was at Oranim – Haifa University. From 2003 he has been a faculty member of the Technion's Department of Physics, where he served as dean from 2009 to 2015. Professor Soker is a theoretician whose research areas include hot gas in clusters of galaxies, formation of planetary nebulae, explosion mechanism of massive stars, interaction of binary stellar systems, influence of planets on the evolution of stars, and the general role of jets in astrophysics.?

Guangdong Technion Israel Institute of Technology is the first Sino-Israeli polytechnic university introducing quality educational resources from Israel.
