Jerusalem, Israel ¨C From June 6^th to 8^th, Shantou delegation, led by Chen Liangxian, the Secretary of the CPC Shantou Municipal Committee, visited Haifa and Tel Aviv, including Technion - Israel Institute of Technology. Li Jiange, the Chancellor of Guangdong Technion - Israel Institute of Technology, Lin Xiaoyong, the Deputy Mayor of Shantou, and directors from Li Ka-Shing Foundation and Shantou municipal departments also took part in related activities.

In Technion. The delegation received a warm welcome from Prof.?Peretz Lavie, the president of Technion. He pointed out, education is the bridge for communication and cooperation. Shantou and Technion has been promoting it steadily. So far, the recruitment of GTIIT faculty globally has been progressing as expected. He firmly believed, with joint efforts, GTIIT would become an international innovative university, driving the prosperity in Haifa and Shantou alike,?

During seminars, Chen Liangxian expressed his great gratitude to Prof.?Peretz Lavie and Li Ka-Shing, who spared no efforts in promoting the construction of GTIIT in Shantou. He said, Shantou and Haifa are sister cities, we are just like families. At present, the establishment of GTIIT is progressing smoothly and GTIIT will enroll its first students globally. This is the important fruit born by Sino-Israel comprehensive innovative partnership, the innovative efforts by people from Shantou and Haifa, and the innovative cooperation between Chinese and Jewry. Driven by innovation, wisdom will blossom. Win-win is the future, promoting Shantou become the breeding ground of innovation, entrepreneurship and prosperity.

Chen Liangxian said, Shantou Municipal Party Committee?and Shantou Government will fully support and enhance the establishment of GTIIT, providing agreeable living and working conditions for students and faculty. He hoped, the cutting-edge teaching management ideas and abundant educational resources from Technion would help GTIIT to build a leading teaching team in the world. By utilizing the state-of-the-art teaching models and ideas, GTIIT will become a first-class polytechnic university, gathering quality educational resources and cultivating outstanding innovative talents. Sino-Israeli?Science and Technology Innovation Cooperation Zone (Shantou) will become a significant platform for talents and scientific and technologic innovation, therefore transforming knowledge into productive power.
