June 23rd - Chen Liangxian, the Secretary of the CPC Shantou Municipal Committee, met with Li Jiange, the Chancellor of Guangdong Technion-Israel Institute of Technology, at Shantou Yingbin Hotel. They exchanged views on GTIIT's establishment and so on.

On behalf of Shantou Municipal Party Committee and Municipal Government, Chen Liangxian expressed his?cordial respect to Li Ka-Shing as well as the greatest gratitude to Li Jiange and people who spare no efforts to the establishment of GTIIT during the seminar. Chen point out, Shantou Municipal Party Committee and Municipal Government are serious concerned about the establishment of GTIIT, and greatly support the project. Shantou Municipal Party Committee and Municipal Government will create a quality and convenient working and living environment for students and staff in GTIIT by promoting the equipment of related facilities.

Guangdong Technion-Israel Institute of Technology is enrolling students this year. There are three undergraduate programs, Chemical Engineering, Biotechnology and Food Engineering, and Materials Engineering. GTIIT will enroll 300 students at home and abroad. At present, plans are moved forward smoothly.

Li Jiange said, the next step is to enhance the intake plan of qualified teachers, build a stronger team and prepare for the coming enrollment. In this way, GTIIT will become an internationally cutting-edge research institute, facilitating the establishment of China-Israel?(Shantou) Cooperation?Zone for Sci-tech?Innovation and the prosperity of Shantou.
