Having prepared for a few years, GTIIT becomes possible with full support from People's Government of Guangdong Province, Shantou Municipal People's Government, Li Ka-shing Foundation and people from all walks of lives.

GTIIT held the 2017 Opening Ceremony at 9 o'clock this morning, This is a momentous and memorable event since the establishment of GTIIT.

Our honorable guests attended the ceremony, including Li Jiange, Chancellor of GTIIT; Lin Yimin, Vice Mayor of Shantou Municipal Government; Nadav Cohen, Consul General of Israel in Guangzhou; Wang Yun, Formerly Executive Vice Director, Standing Committee of Shantou City's People's Congress; Lin Danming, Vice President of STU; Paul Feigin, Technion Liaison Officer; Dr Katherine Lo, Li Ka Shing Foundation Senior Project Manager; Eliezer Shalev, Pro-Vice Chancellor for Academic Affairs;and Moshe Marom, Pro-Vice Chancellor and Director General. Feng Xinglei, Pro-Vice Chancellor for Student Affairs, was the host of the opening ceremony.

Freshmen, parents, representatives of faculty and directors from GTIIT departments also attended the ceremony.

The speech of Chancellor Li was inspiring, he said: "However, life is not a sprint, not even a marathon. Life is more like an auto rally. If the game is not over, you will have the opportunity to overtake around the curve at the next stage as long as you keep fighting and do not give up."

Li Yimin, Vice Mayor of Shantou Municipal Government, pointed out, Shantou Municipal Government will support the development of GTIIT wholeheartedly, and establish an effective mechanism to integrate production, education and research to make GTIIT the talent base of China, including Guangdong province, and to make GTIIT the top research-oriented institute!

Nadav Cohen, Consul General of Israel in Guangzhou, said, today we do something for the next generations of both countries we invest in education. The opening ceremony today is another momentous event in memory of 25th Anniversary of Establishment of the Diplomatic Relations between China and Israel following the visit of our Prime Minister in Beijing and the Party Secretary of Guangdong in Israel. He wished the opening ceremony a great success for this joint institute.
