Q: Why do you teach in GTIIT?

A: The opportunity came to me when our dean of the Mathematics faculty offered me the chance to teach this preparatory class. It was a good opportunity to come to China and experience a new place and a different culture. I enjoy the different customs here and I enjoy trying new food.

?

Q: Why did you choose to become a teacher?

A: After I finished my Ph.D, I thought over what I wanted to do for a living. I had already been teaching for quite a few years and I enjoyed it a lot so I chose to continue doing it. I enjoy teaching new students, explaining the material, and hopefully, making the material less confusing and, hopefully, understandable.

Q: What do you think of GTIIT students?

A: I feel that the students here are well-prepared and are more interested in mathematics. The students feel more involved and I like answering their questions.

?

Q: Could you give them some advice to learn math?

A: Practice! Endless practice! Whatever you do, if you want to be better, you need to practice. And the practice should be efficient. Practice solving problems which are easy, then practice more difficult questions,? which take a while to solve. Always push forward.

Q:Did you encounter anything interesting?

A: Yes. Today, one of my students asked "May I touch your head?" I said okay. he touched my head and it seemed to please him. One of my good students came and asked me questions, and told? me that later, other students had asked him these questions and he wanted to explain the questions to them.?

?

Q: What do you think of Shantou?

A: It is a very nice place. I like my apartment. I mostly just stay in campus or go shopping. I haven't taken any trips yet.
