Mr. Chen Hanshi, Chairman of Thailand Taihua Cultural Education Foundation, donated 1,000,000 RMB to set up Hanshi Scholarship for GTIIT. The scholarship aims to reward GTIIT Chaoshan students enrolled in 2018. Mr. Chen Hanshi is the first overseas Chinese setting up scholarship for GTIIT.

When asked the reasons why he donated handsomely to GTIIT, Chen said, he was forced to drop off school at the age of 16, knowing the pain of being deprived of education, he wants to support more students to receive education. On the other hand, Technion, boating for its state-of-the-art technology, is the leading university in the world, therefore, the establishment of GTIIT has profound influence in the prosperity of Chaoshan region. By setting up scholarship in GTIIT, Chen hoped to encourage Chaoshan students to learn cutting-edge technology and make contributions to the development of his hometown. Chen also mentioned that he loves learning and he hopes his passion for learning can be passed on to the next generation, cultivating elites for his hometown.




On the founding ceremony, Chancellor Li Jiange made a speech and presented Certificate of Honor and Thanks Letter to Mr. Chen Hanshi. The ceremony was hosted by Feng Xinglei, Pro-Vice Chancellor for Student Affairs. Prof. Eliezer Shalev , GTIIT Pro-Vice Chancellor for Academic Affairs, Mr. Yigal Cohen, Pro-Vice Chancellor and Director General, Dr Katherine Lo, Li Ka-Shing Foundation Senior Project Manager, directors from Shantou Government and delegation from Thailand Taihua Cultural Education Foundation also attended the ceremony.


Before the ceremony, the delegation, led by Mr. Chen Haishi, visited the memorial pavilion and exhibition of Yi Guangyan, a patriotic overseas Chinese.
