Delicate dessert, fruit, soft drinks laid out in the corridor. Flashing lights, rousing cheers interweaving with heavy DJ background music. 41 Israeli students from Technion and GTIIT students, faculty and staff danced with the rhythm. The atmosphere was lively and welcoming, joy embraced the party just like the flowing music and blazing lights, infecting everyone at the party. A student even joked, "I never expected that I have my first disco dancing not in bars but GTIIT!”

Isn't it a great pleasure to have friends coming from afar! As a hospitable host, GTIIT held a welcome party for students from Technion last night. The flowing joy at the party drew students from GTIIT and Technion closely together, dancing, chatting, appreciating performances, tasting yummy food, etc., though for most of them, it was just the first time they met each other.

?

To have a successful and welcoming party, GTIIT students spend a lot efforts in making it possible, from volunteerly prepare performances, rehearsals to exquisitely decorating the party. The hospitality, seriousness and multi-talents of GTIIT students deeply touched our Israeli friends. At the beginning of the party, GTIIT welcomed Technion students with displaying ribbons and hearty cheers, giving a great surprise to Technion students. After dancing for a while to warm up, GTIIT students gave a series brilliant performances: singing, piano solo, a piano-violins-flute-cello concerto, hip pop, rock music, Zheng performance, etc., from which the Technion students knew more about them, about GTIIT and about Chinese culture.

When the performances were drawing to a close, our friends from Israel impromptu decided to perform Israeli dancing as an appreciation for the generous hospitality from GTIIT students. The impressive dancing gained continuous burst of applause, pushing the atmosphere to the apex again.

Technion students:

"The party is very good and fun. Students here are serious and very nice, they speak very good English! It is very interesting to be here, the food, the culture, etc."

?

"It was amazing! The atmosphere here is very good! I never expect that there would be a party here, the balloons, the lights, especially the balloons in blue and white, like our flag in Israel. It is very nice! And all the performance, the DJ, the food, etc. are amazing! It is just our first day here and I still don’t know much about them. But in the following four days, I hope to know them more."

GTIIT Students:

Yan Wan'er (from Biotechnology and Food Engineering)

"Along the winding stairs fully decorated with starry lights, we went into the student activity center where the party was held. The dizzying flashlights created a party-like atmosphere. The moment when Technion students arrived, we welcomed with displaying ribbons and big cheer. And they respond warmly. All of us soon become friends under such friendly ambience. The party was amazing, we danced and we cheered. Technion students were good at stirring up the atmosphere. They gave us an impromptu Israeli dancing, pushing the party to the highest pitch. Our teachers and their families also joined the party and we knew each other better. We are just like a big family."

?

Cai Hanfeng (from Biotechnology and Food Engineering)

"No matter where you are from, whether you love dancing, have no idea how to dance or dare not to dance, we all moved with the music when the disco was playing, swaying and jumping, putting hands up and waving with the rhythms. Tonight, we not only have a taste of disco dancing, and more importantly, we were infected by the friendliness and warmness of Technion students. We cannot just be the bookworms staying in dorms day in and day out. We need to learn how to relax and socialize. Scores are no longer the only criteria. We need to boldly go out of our inner selves, get in touch with something new and make friends with people from different places. The party gathered us together, again showing the charm of a Sino-Israel university!"

Huang Qianle (from Biotechnology and Food Engineering)

"I chatted with Technion students at the party, which made me feel a bit awkward, yet exciting and interested. What made me awkward is my nervousness stumped my should-be fluent English and rigidified my facial expression. What made me exciting is, I tried to talk with them, to know more about them and something unfamiliar. What interested me is, I asked two students that whether they were couple and how they knew each other. They laughed, and said, “oh, we aren't couple, we love each other and we are good friends.” What an unforgettable night!"

?

Yuan Chunlin (from Chemical Engineering)

"Confucius said, Isn't it a great pleasure to have friends coming from afar! That also roughly describe how I feel about the Technion students. When we were strolling around Shantou University, I found they were active and lovely. They shew great interest in Chinese and the leader of the team even learned a few Chinese words from me. At the welcome party reached to the crest because of their glaring and enthusiastic dancing. We, GTIIT students, who indulged so much in studies at most of the time, cannot help dancing tango with Technion students. "

?

Together with GTIIT students and other guests from China and Israel, these Technion students are invited to take part in the "Series Activities of Sino-Israel Education and Technology Cooperation" hosted by GTIIT.
