Yesterday morning, Lin Yimin, Vice Mayor of Shantou, led a delegation to conduct a field study and hold a panel discussion. In the discussion with the theme of "supporting the innovation development of Shantou University and Guangdong Technion-Israel Institute of Technology", Lin listened to the proposals that was put forward by representatives from the two universities.

STU President Jiang Hong, STU Vice-presidents Lin Danming and Feng Xinglei, GTIIT Pro-Vice Chancellor and Director General Yigal Cohen and other leaders from the two universities attended the discussion. Besides introducing the status quo of the two universities, leaders also had an in-depth discussion on concerned issues. Leaders from Shantou municipal government and Jinping district government actively responded to issues brought forward by GTIIT, such as fueling the establishment of international school, introducing and stabilizing a high-level pool of talents and accelerating the development of teaching and researching laboratories.

Lin Yimin said, Shantou Municipal Party Committee and Shantou government would place great emphasis on the development of STU and GTIIT as always do, coordinate resources to solve problems for STU and GTIIT and spare no efforts to create high-quality & efficient services and agreeable social environment, so that more outstanding talents will teach in STU and GTIIT for a long time, which in turn facilitates GTIIT's development as a world-renowned leading research institute.
