On April 4th, Mr. Li Jian'ge, Chancellor of GTIIT, gave a wonderful lecture in Chaoyang Experimental School themed with "Hardship Breeds Brilliance – A Brief Discussion on the Jewish Culture". From the Jewish history to the remarkable contributions made to the mankind, Chancellor Li explained the Jewish culture in a simple yet profound way. By expounding concepts such as “Chutzpah” and “Pilpul”, Chancellor Li introduced some most significant Jewish spirits: the courage to question and challenge, diligence in thinking, and being innovative.

Chancellor Li also introduced the Jewish educational philosophies and practices which led to the stories of GTIIT, including programs setting, faculty resources, and most importantly, the vision and mission of GTIIT.

Chancellor Li won rounds of applause from the students who listened carefully, took notes and raised very good, even challenging questions in the Q&A session. Over 1,900 students of the Grade 11 attended the lecture.

The lecture was so thought-provoking that the original one-hour schedule was extended at the strong requests of the students.

GTIIT presented the plague, "Recognized School for Excellent Students", to the Chaoyang Experimental School.

Guangdong Technion-Israel Institute of Technology (GTIIT) is a Sino-foreign cooperative university established by Shantou University (STU) and Technion-Israel Institute of Technology (Technion) with an independent legal person status. The university is located in the city of Shantou, Guangdong province, and was approved by the Ministry of Education for formal establishment on December 5, 2016. The first cohort of students was recruited in the year of 2017. Mr. Li Jian’ge, famous economist in China, and Prof. Aaron Ciechanover, 2004 Nobel laureate are the founding Chancellor and Vice Chancellor of GTIIT respectively.
